Just after our St. Francis' Peace and Justice Committee meeting we like to make this special prayer request.
Thanks for your continued prayer... Please join your prayers with ours especially concerning the following efforts.
St. Francis Peace and Justice Committee meets on the first Mondays of each month...
our next meeting is Monday, November 5, 2012 at 7:30 pm in the St. Francis School Library.

Pray for our efforts to accomplish these Committee Goals for 2012/2013 (due on 10/5/2012):
- Goal #1: Individual project leaders will promote Catholic Social Teaching (CST) themes in accordance with their interests (please refer to the Committee's annual CST calendar for a list of actual activities each month). We will continue to explore opportunities to connect with other social ministry groups at St. Francis, and continue our ongoing efforts related to recurring projects such as Special Collections.
- Goal #2: The Committee will coordinate with and support the goals of the Sustainability Team, advancing stewardship and care for God's creation in the parish.
- Goal #3: The Committee will lead an educational and fund-raising project during Lent.

(1) our participation in the MI-IPL Conference: The annual Michigan Interfaith Power & Light sustainability conference held on October 4th at Madonna University in Livonia.
(2) the "greening" of coffee and donuts, which will replace Styrofoam cups with compostable cups.
(3) the Better Buildings for Michigan home energy audits/assessments are being offered for $50 to show you ways you can make your home more energy efficient. On Sunday, October 14 and 21, the specialists will be available in the St. Francis PAC during coffee and donuts after the 8:45 and 10:30 Masses. The specialists are: Chelsea Lumber, Ms. Green Construction, Meadowlark Energy, and Pro Energy Consultants. You may contact them yourself, or, plan to meet with one of these specialists when they come to St. Francis. Enrollment in the Better Buildings program is available through December 31, 2012 or until funds run out. Pray for our efforts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council in October 2012. Forum articles will give an overview of Vatican II and focus on the most significant changes that resulted from it.
Pray for our efforts to support the new St. Francis School Peace Garden. Our Committee has made a donation of two mums, (purchased from a mums sale to raise money for Special Olympics).
Pray for our efforts to promote the CROP Walk, Sunday, October 14, 2012. Go to the ICPJ website to sign up or to donate (www.icpj.net).
Pray for our Special Collection efforts on October 21, 2012 for ArborVitae Women's Center, which provides pregnant mothers with the knowledge, tools and caring support they need to embrace bright futures and to make healthy, life-affirming decisions... see www.AnnArborVitae.com
Pray for our MCC - Michigan Catholic Conference of Bishops and/or the USCCB - US Catholic Conference of Bishops in the efforts to encourage voting in November.
Pray for our efforts to organize our Lenten Project ideas (perhaps a theme of "Sustaining our Housing", the ongoing need for more affordable housing, and/or have a sustainability focus on sponsoring a 2013 Habitat for Humanity Catholic House, with ways to green our homes and lives.
Pray for our efforts for the parish sponsorship of a family in an affordable housing unit.

And, Pray for our efforts to host Alpha House Family Shelter for the week of October 15 through the 21st, 2012. We really need additional helpers for the following needs: · Dinners, supplied and served, are needed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday (menus already in use – sloppy joes, spaghetti, chicken nuggets) · Hot breakfast, supplied and served, is needed on Sunday · People to spend the night are needed on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday · Help with children's activities is needed every night from 6:45 to 8:00pm ( I currently have one family whose schedule is flexible) If you can help or have questions regarding any of these needs, please call me at 734-646-6188 or email me at rbvhatch@yahoo.com. Pray for our efforts on every third Friday evening of the month, Prepare and Serve a Meal with a crew from St. Francis at the Ann Arbor Food Gatherers' Community Kitchen, located in the Delonis Center, Shelter, 312 W. Huron, Ann Arbor, MI. To Serve Supper for the Hungry Twelve (12) volunteers (6 per shift) are needed for each meal.
