Food Drive to Detroit

Thanks for the Groceries Delivered to Detroit, June 2012.

     Congratulations and thank you to all parishioners who participated in our summer Food Drive.  Once again your generosity for the Food Drive was amazing!  On behalf of Corpus Christi Parish & the children and families served with the food that you donated, thank you!

      We collected and delivered 330 bags of groceries to our sister parish, Corpus Christi, for use at their children's summer camp.       We greatly appreciate those who helped distribute the bags at the Masses and a special thank you also goes to those who were able to caravan to Detroit to attend the Corpus Christi feastday Mass, to unpack and organize the bags, and to share in a thankgiving meal with the Corpus Christi parishioners.  We had 33 people there representing St. Francis.       It is amazing to see all the food out of the bags.  We thank Corpus Christi for the beautiful Mass, social gathering & lunch we enjoyed together.

Food Drive to Detroit: Service Opportunity

A fun and faith-filled time!

Join us for a Visit to Our Sister Parish,

Corpus Christi, Detroit. 

On Sunday, June 24, 2012, lots of people are needed to help prepare clean and decorate the space, classrooms and the kitchen, for the campers who arrive the next day for summer camp.    Our St. Francis brigade, will go by carpool departing from St. Francis at 10am June 24, 2012, (to attend the 11:00 am Mass in Detroit at Corpus Christi) lunch is provided for us. And, then we will help unload/sort the groceries collected through our St. Francis food drive, as well as, help prepare classrooms for camp.  There is work available to do regardless of your physical ability, so don't let that stop you.  Children are also welcome if you want to make this a family event.  We will be back at St. Francis by 4:30 pm at the latest.  

Our contribution of groceries really helps those children and families most in need.    Even if you are not able to join us in Detroit, please pray for the summer camp, the children participating and, on June 17, 2012, take an empty grocery bag (distributed at all the Masses), go shopping and purchase some of the items listed on the bag.    Return the groceries in the bag At Masses On June 24, 2012.   Questions?
